7 Facts and Chili Sauce

I've been tagged by River from Wing it Vegan! to do the 7 random facts meme! Go check her fantastic blog if you haven't done it yet!

1. I don't like bestsellers. I mainly read classics, but have a soft spot for two writers who are alive: José Saramago and Paul Auster.
2. I hate westerns and movies for kids. I like "special" movies. Those that change you a little bit inside.
3. I'm making a list of things to do before I'm 30. One of the things I want to do is to go to a karaoke and sing. But not just easy like that, no no! I want to go out in a normal night to have a beer with my friends and end up in a karaoke at 2 am singing tacky songs. Probably drunk.
4. I wish I could ride a bike. I mean, I can, but not safely. So I don't use my bike because I'm scared. I'm specially scared of cars, since I'm not that experienced with the bike...
5. Until I started living alone, I didn't eat mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower, garlic, parsley and a lot of other things I actually LOVE. My mum doesn't like them. Or as she likes to say "they don't agree with her stomach".
6. I love potatoes. Cooked in all possible ways!
7. My boyfriend and I have a sort of list of "running gags". We've been making the same jokes and stupid things for years and apparently, none of us gets tired!

And now the chili sauce!

We bought a lot of chili to make pickles a while ago, and we never did it! We're slackers! So last week, when the remaining were starting to look ...bad? I decided to make a chili sauce.

I had to chop so many of those little nasty peppers! so many! I found a recipe in internet, something like:

A lot of chili peppers
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 tablespoon rice wine
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon salt? Not sure, I didn't use that much for sure

It's tasty! It's like these chili sauces in Asian restaurants!

But I put my finger in my eye twice that night, as usual...

Great facts, Alice!! I too like movies that change us and make us think.

Fun facts. I don't like bestsellers either - I prefer non-fiction, but have a soft spot for Tom Robbins and Douglas Coupland.

That chili sauce looks great and I love the random, no-nonsense way you cook - that is how I cook. Hence why I never have measurements for spices. I'm lucky I remember to write the ingredients I use down!

I love the facts! My boyfriend and I do the same thing. What's best is when I blurt something related out to a friend and they have NO IDEA what I'm talking about! :)

Fun facts! I love classics and contemporary literature, but I generally don't read bestsellers either. I hate westerns and love clever children's movies (and those also have the effect of changing you a little). I mostly like classic, indie, foreign, and documentary films, though.

I love your facts! I used to be the same way with food, I didn't like everything on your list but now I eat them all the time! My mom also tells me that things don't agree with her stomach (ex: onions) but yet she eats things pre-packaged with onions in it!!!

I loved reading more about you!
The only best seller type books I've ever read are the Harry Potters, which I didn't start reading until 2005. I'm a literature snob, but I needed something easy I could pick up and put down when nursing my baby. They were fun.
Love the sauce!

Haha, Mr UnVeg and I have long standing jokes that never get old with us too!

And be careful with karaoke. I did it drunk once and people threw food at me (they were friends, and we were at a party..but still...I guess I am as bad as I knew I was!)

Oh no, chilli fingers! The sauce looks good, I hope it was worth the self-induced suffering...

I'm going to make a 30 before 30 list, too... when I get around to it! We'll have to compare lists.

Potatoes- I could eat them every day! And the chili sauce looks really good.

i really hope someone gets you on camera when you're drunk at the karaoke bar. that would be priceless and so funny to watch.

Have you already read Austers newest novel, Der Mann im Dunklen? I can't wait to.

chili sauce sounds just about right for this weather. and I agree about #4 and #5- I'm dead scared of biking in the city and there are so many things I would never have eaten 4 years ago!

YAY! I'm so glad you played! :)

Wow, we have a lot in common! I am a terrible bike rider, didn't eat veggies until I moved out of my parents house, I am potatoes' number one fan, and I have a list of things to do before I'm 30. Of course I'll be 30 in just 3 months. Not enough time!!

I'm not a big favourite of bestesellers too. Like 'special' movies I also like books that change you a little bit inside.
The chili sauce looks very 'spicy'. I guess you can keep it for a while in your fridge.

I love potatoes too! Seriously love them.

Your chilli sauce looks ace!

Ooh I'm interested to know about your running gags... I'm always at a loss for things to do for April Fools' Day (one of my favorite holidays!).

Hmmm... I usually DO use a frozen banana for my brulee. If you microwave it anyway, it shouldn't matter that it was frozen. What happened that it didn't work? Maybe try microwaving it longer? Ack, I'm so sorry! I hate when my recipes don't work for people; I feel so bad!

Don't feel bad, I can't ride a bike either!

Check out the movie The Fall. I just reviewed it on my blog. It definitely qualifies as a special movie.

I have been thinking about making a 30 before 30 list but I'm such a procrastinator. I'm turning 30 in July so I really need to get off my but and get to it!

I need to make a list of things to do before I'm 30... but I'm running out of time (I'm already 29).
