Japanese Dinner

I'm back from Barcelona! It was a nice trip, specially food-wise, but I don't have any pictures to prove it... My dad's girlfriend is such a good cook AND a veggie lover. It's just a perfect combination.

I found a bag of sushi rice while cleaning the pantry and I made a Japanese dinner!

First we had miso soup:

It had rehydrated shiitake mushrooms, wakame and miso paste.

Then fried tofu pockets filled with rice:

And onigiri! Filled with umeboshi plums and a black-eyed peas paste.

And some boiled and salted edamame:

This all looks very fancy, at least to me, but it was only one evening... Actually what I've been eating all week is this:

It's a stir-fry with garlic, kale, millet, black-eyed peas and tahini sauce. It's to die for!

I love love Inari and edamame!

Edamame is good breakfast food or whenever you feel like snacking.

Your all week dinner looks like a feast!

My sister used to live in Barcelona, so I used to travel there often. It's a great place to visit. Your Japanese dinner looks really yummy!

Yummy looking eats! The bowl at the end looks terrific! I always mix up my foods and love eating out of bowls so everything will be combined, haha

Omigosh, Miss Alice, inari is one of my most favorite foods! I used to eat it alllll the time when I lived in China! But I'd forgotten about it, since it's not an everyday sight here in US grocery stores or restaurants. Thanks for reinding me about it; I'll have to track some down!

I love how Spain is your neighbor :P Regarding the brazil nut milk chai--the "milk" is made from soaked ground up brazil nuts, then they add in the chai spices and...voila!

Yum, I have to try the millet and kale. I'm the opposite of you, I love quinoa, but have yet to really love a dish with millet. I'll have to give this a go.
