I know, I know, maybe I shouldn't be so happy, and I certainly won't be happy if I don't find a job soon, but hey! I think positive and I'm pretty sure I'll find something to start in January latest, which would be awesome because I could enjoy Christmas at home knowing I have a job when I come back after the holidays. OK, these are all speculations, I know...
Last week we made pan-seared dumplings and it was a lot of fun. First, I made a filling with TVP granulate, Chinese cabbage, tomato paste and spices. And then I started forming the dumplings with less success than I thought. Let's say I'm not exactly virtuous when it comes to manual work. Thankfully, my boyfriend was there to save the day, and they ended up awesome!
Seriously, one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. We ate a lot of dumplings, and I could have eaten a lot more. Yeah, lack of moderation is one of my weaknesses.
I'm still playing around with VWAV, and I decided to make a tofu scramble. I know, everybody has tried tofu scramble already, but I hadn't. Actually, I was pretty sure I was going to mess it up, specially since I didn't follow the recipe at all. I didn't have all ingredients, so I just used tofu and spices, and still it was tasty!
This month, I'm going to try to cook with the things I have in my pantry. Not exclusively (hello fresh produce) but mainly. Let's see how that goes...
I also have a picture of a leek pumpkin pasta casserole, which was good but a bit too sweet for me.
I drove my boyfriend crazy with the casserole, because I left it in the oven when it cooled down and he was running around yelling "where is that thing that smells so good!?". Muahaha!
Also, I'm flying to Milan tomorrow to meet my friends. We organized the trip a long time ago, and being unemployed is not really an excuse, since I paid for the ticket a while ago and I don't think that we're going to spend a lot of money.

Tofu scrambles are so much fun to make, and they taste so good.
YOU DID IT, YOU DID IT!!! :-D
Hang in there with the job, girl - stay positive!!
I haven't ever tried tofu scramble, if that makes you feel better, lol ( or at least, i don't think that I have tried one) Yours looks very tasty though!
Good luck finding a new job and enjoy your time off! I was eyeing the VWAV tofu scramble recipe yesterday, so I may be joining you in giving that a try soon.
Good luck finding a new job. I bet you are relieved to be done with the horrible job you had though.
Those dumplings sound wonderful and I love the story! Wahoo for your bf!
I am drooling over those dumplings!!! I want some! And tofu scambles are always yummy, no matter what you put in them!
tofu scramble is definitely a staple in my diet. i always end up adding leftover veggies and stuff too. yum!
I have that same problem you have with folding dumplings etc! They look and sound yummy though.
And hooray for your tofu scramble working! I'm always very jealous when I see tofu scrambles!
Good luck with the job hunting!
I have a business proposition for you: Fly to Texas and be my personal chef. Only problem is that I don't have much money... but I can pay you in cupcakes!
And I was so super-over-the-moon excited to get the music! I love the songs you've sent earlier for two reasons-- one, they're fun songs. Two, every time I hear them, I think of my wonderful, kind blog friend that I am so thankful to know. Seriousy, I am so happy I know you, Alicia, because you are an awesome person!!!
Get back to me on the job offer ;o)
Yum! Tofu scramble is my favorite weekend brunch ever, it's a great way to use up whatever's sitting around the crisper.
And yay for dumplings, yours look fantastic!
Yumm, you can't beat a good scramble!
Yea! I'm glad you're out of that job you hated! And the dumplings look fantastic. If you can manage dumplings, there's no way you could mess up tofu scramble! I think that's one of those dishes that it's impossible to screw up...and anything is good in tofu scramble.
hooray for no longer having to work at a job you abhor! yay!
you're cooking up one tasty storm, Alice! mmmmmmmmmmm! the pan-seared dumplings look (and sound) divine! the tofu scramble looks perfect, and the pasta - well, that's got me oh-so hungry! mmmmmmmmmmmmm!
have fun in milan, Alice - and take lots of pictures to share! wahooooooooooo!
haha we have dumpling wrapping parties at my church on new year's eve and once, when i was in 5th grade, i had 40 dumplings. yep. haha. granted, i felt sick afterwards, but they were good :D
Enjoy your unemployment time! You will find something else, so make the most of your free time! Not that you need anyone to say that since you are going to MILAN!! That is awesome!! Have a great trip! :)
Congrats on being out of that yucky job environment - sorry that you are out of work.
Those dumplings look amazing!!!
ohh pumpkin pasta is neat!!! i saw a recipe for pumpkin macaroni and cheese but i haven't tried it yet. this looks bangin.
mmm, everything looks so delicious! I'd go crazy too, smelling pumpkin and leek pasta! and good luck with the job, and the trip. :D
I want to attempt dumplings!! They are so yummy. You give me encouragement, although somehow I doubt mine would turn out as great. Very cool!
oooohhh!! dumplings! I had forgotten about them, now I'll have to attempt those! And I hope you find a job soon. I'm also looking. I wish I find one before Christmas though! Anyway, I had scramble tofu this morning! Yum!
Those dumplings look A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. I love dumplings--but have never made them! I need to get on that.
Good luck on the job search! While I'm thankful for employment, I have to admit that I am slightly jealous of people (like you & my boyfriend) who have their entire days free for the time-being... :)
Oohhhhh those dumplings look so good. My fav. Chinese place here calls them "pot stickers" and they were my fav when I was an omni... of course they have pork in them there.... so no more for me.
I hope the economy is better there than the US... so many of our mom-and-pop businesses are closing. We had this place that was just a make your own salad place... my hubby went there yesterday to get dinner and there was a sign on the door that said they were no longer open for business. The coffee shop right infront of my job closed last week too... :( It is making impossible here for people to find jobs. The job section of the newspaper used to be like 4 pages... last Sunday it wasn't even 1/2 a page!!!
You've been tagged... check out my blog! :)
those dumplings look SO good! i want to try
Way to go on the tofu scramble!
Those dumplings look like something I would keep eating and eating. Now I just need to find some eggless wonton wrappers.
